VS. OIL KINGS: Tonight marks the first meeting of the season between the Oil Kings and Tigers and first of three straight games between the clubs. The Tigers will welcome Edmonton on their annual Teddy Bear Toss game tonight as after Medicine Hat scores their first goal bears will be thrown onto the ice. Last season the Tigers were led by 3 departed players (Lewington, Hunt, Cox) in points against Edmonton, the highest returning player is Chad Butcher who recorded 6 points in 6 games.

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:

Medicine Hat has been outscored 41-22 in the first period, including 3 goals on Wednesday to the Rebels. Medicine Hat has only led after the opening 20 minutes once in their past 6 games

Multiple Tigers continued their point streaks last night in Red Deer as David Quenneville extended his to 4 games, while Max Gerlach with the only goal for the Tabbies extended his to 3 games

HOLIDAY BREAK: The Tigers kicked off their final six games before the Holiday break last night in Red Deer, picking up a 2-1 defeat in the process. The victory is not uncommon at this time of the year as Medicine Hat has seen great performances before the players head home to see family and friends. Over the past 5 seasons, Medicine Hat has a 20-10-0-0 record coming down the stretch before the break. Last season the Tabbies went 4-2-0-0 and had their best showing in those six games in 2010-11 when they went 5-1-0-0.

HITTING MILESTONES: The Tigers have had some milestones this season including first career goals by rookies Max Gerlach, Brad Forrest, James Hamblin, Ryan Jevne and affiliate Josh McNeil netting his first ever goal in his first ever game. While the rookies have shown their skills, the older veteran players have also hit milestones this season. More recently was Cole Sanford, recording his 200th career point in Kamloops on December 5th. Sanford is also just 3 goals shy of 100 in his career and should hit that before the break. Chad Butcher will hit 200 games played in the WHL before season's end as he is just 10 games shy of the mark. Matt Bradley will play in his 100th game tomorrow night in Edmonton. Ty Stanton is 9 games away from hitting the 200 games played mark. David Quenneville is 10 games away from 100 in his career as well.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS TONIGHT: The Tigers annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by the Medicine Hat News occurs TONIGHT against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Fans are encouraged to bring throw their stuffed animals along with winter jackets, socks, toques, mittens and scarves to help the Medicine Hat Women's Shelter, Salvation Army and the Pediatric Ward of the Regional Hospital.
