Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA- The Tri-City Americans (11-18-1-0, 23 pts) scored the first two goals of the game, but the Everett Silvertips (16-10-0-2, 34 pts) tallied three unanswered goals and held off Tri-City for a 3-2 win in front of 5,248 fans at the Toyota Center on Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss Night.
It took 2:07 for the Teddy Bear goal to be scored, as Michael Rasmussen fed the puck to Juuso Välimäki cutting through the slot, deflecting the puck over the shoulder of Carter Hart and into the goal to bring the stuffed animals onto the ice. Vladislav Lukin scored on the power play to push the lead to 2-0 later in the first. Less than 20 seconds later, Everett got on the board with a goal from Remi Laurencelle. With less than two minutes left in the period, Dawson Leedahl scored a power play goal to tie the game at two after one period.
Everett took the lead late in the second period on a goal from Graham Millar, as a loose puck in front of the net was slapped into twine on the power play for a 3-2 lead after two periods.
The Americans fought for the tying goal, outshooting the Silvertips 9-3 in the third period. Tri-City was unable to score, allowing Everett to hang on for the win.
Both teams converted 2-of-6 power play chances and recorded 14 penalty minutes.
Evan Sarthou stopped 22 shots in the loss while Carter Hart made 22 saves in the win.
