
Galvin Injured New Year\'s Dayâ¦Markusen Activated

Reading, PA â The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that defenseman Tom Galvin has been placed on the 7-day injured list. Defenseman Joe Markusen has been activated off the 7-day IR.
Galvin, 25, suffered a hand injury in last night's game in Beaumont, Texas. The rookie defenseman was slashed on the hand early in the third period and did not return to action. The Miller Place, New York native has appeared in 25 games with Reading this season and chipped in four assists 14 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. Galvin had appeared in all 25-games with Reading prior to the injury.
Markusen, 24, has appeared in just three games with Reading this season. He did not register a point. The Michigan State University product was acquired from Long Beach on December 3.
The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.
The Royals continue their season-high eight game road trip tonight in Beaumont Texas. Reading beat Texas last night in their first meeting 3-2 in a shootout.
