Condors Brawl with Wranglers in Lopsided Loss
January 2, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - Las Vegas scored four times on each Condors goaltender and cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 4,157 fans at Centennial Garden on New Year's Day.
The Wranglers took the lead with good power play time, scoring twice with the advantage and taking a 3-2 lead into the dressing room. Bakersfield added a power play goal of their own from Vlad Serov and a late goal by Ryan Gillis en route to a 23-11 shot lead for the frame. Yutaka Fukufuji lasted just 20 minutes between the pipes for the Condors.
Bakersfield had their chances in the second frame with three power plays, including a two-man advantage for nearly a minute, but Sebastien Centomo kicked out every chance, stopping 16 more shots in the middle frame. Meanwhile, Randy Petruk fared no better, surrendering three Wranglers goals as they opened up a 6-2 lead through 40 minutes.
Vegas added two more in the third, both by Jeff Attard to complete his hat trick. The scoring once again took a backseat in the final stanza, however, as penalty minutes mounted. One hundred minutes were handed out during the final period of play and over 260 over the last two nights, including over 30 minutes to goaltenders Petruk and Centomo, who highlighted the third period with a bout at center ice to end the fracas.
Up next for the Condors is a seven-game road trip, including a nine-day, six-game trek to the East Coast with games in Reading and Johnstown, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City and Trenton, New Jersey. The Condors return home on Saturday, January 15th against Vegas once again for the final time they will be in town. That game is Nip & Puck Night, featuring a personal makeover giveaway, sponsored by Bright House Networks, The Big 96.5 and Shannti Medispa. One lucky fan will win a personal makeover valued at $8,000.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
