Fronts Head into the Holiday Break After 7-1 Loss to Flint

It's not very often a team can say that they are perfect against another team, but the Kingston Frontenacs were able to say that when they played the Flint Firebirds. Kingston was a perfect 6-0 all-time against Flint heading into Sunday afternoons match-up. The Firebirds were playing with a short bench after scratching 7 players on Sunday afternoon. They did get a boost to the lineup when Ty Dellandrea was returned from Team Canada's World Junior camp.

Flint controlled the opening minutes of the game and jumped out to an early lead on the power play. The Frontenacs took back-to-back penalties for too many men on the ice and delay of game giving Flint a lengthy 5 on 3 power play. Kingston was able to kill the first penalty, but Jacob Winterton scored on the second power play to give Flint a 1-0 lead. Jake Durham of the Firebirds took a penalty with just under seven minutes in the period that turned things around for Kingston. The Frontenacs didn't score on the power play but gained significant momentum. That led to a goal by Anthony Aguanno at 16:20 of the period to tie the game. It was the first OHL goal of Anthony's career. The period ended in a 1-1 tie.

Flint jumped ahead again early in the second period. Jack Wismer scored with a quick stick on a rebound to put Flint ahead 2-1. They extended their lead later in the period when Hunter Holmes tipped a puck between the legs of Bonello to make it 3-1. The Firebirds had started to take control of the game and the frustration was visible for the Frontenacs.

The final period became a rough one. When Flint scored in the opening minute of the period to make it 4-1, Kingston started to get aggressive. There were a ton of penalties in the final period and the game got away from the Frontenacs. Jake Durham had a pair of goals and Jack Wismer added his second of the game to make it 7-1 Flint. There was a steady stream of players heading to the dressing room late in the game due to the penalties being called. The game ended with Flint taking a 7-1 victory.

The Frontenacs finished up the first half of the schedule with the game on Sunday. They will head into the holiday break before returning back to action on December 28 to host the Peterborough Petes.
