Brazeau and Troops Sweep Home and Home with 5-4 Victory
December 16, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release
North Bay's Brad Chenier scored with over five minutes remaining in the 3rd period to give the Troops the 5-4 win and weekend sweep over the Barrie Colts.
It wouldn't take Barrie long to get started today as the power play got them going. It was the newest Barrie Colts Jack York teeing one up from the blue line and that got through a screen and behind Christian Propp to open the scoring. It was York's 2nd of the season. Assists went to Jaden Peca and Aidan Brown.
On the next Barrie power play, they would strike again. After a shot from Tyler Tucker from an angle, Ben Hawerchuk pounced on the rebound and poked in his 15th of the season for the 2-0 lead. Lucas Chiodo tallied the second assist.
The lead would be short lived as the Colts would get themselves in penalty trouble. Justin Brazeau who scored two goals a night ago, got back on the board again with North Bay's first of the game that sent the Teddy Bears flying for their Teddy Bear Toss game. The power play goal cut into the Barrie lead.
The next Troops power play made Barrie pay once again and just like the first game of the home and home, Brazeau recorded his 2nd goal to tie the game and send the game tied into the break.
In the second period, Brazeau would complete the natural hat-trick. He put home his 3rd of the game for North Bay's first lead of the game.
He wasn't done there, scoring one more which would end the night for Colts net mind Jet Greaves, subbing in Maksim Zhukov.
Barrie would turn things around and get the game back even before the second period buzzer would sound. First it was Ryan Suzuki scoring his 9th of the year from a bad angle. Chiodo and Mathew Hill assisted on the play.
Nearing the end of the period, Jason Willms would score his 9th of the season and 49th career goal, ending an exciting second period all tied at four.
In the third it was the lone goal by Brad Chenier giving the Troops a 5-4 lead which they wouldn't surrender, giving them the home and home sweep over the Colts to end the schedule heading into the holiday break.
Barrie is back in action on December 28th as they head to Kitchener to take on the Rangers, before heading back home on the 29th to take on North Bay once again.
