Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads played their second game in as many days on Sunday afternoon as they took on the Kingston Frontenacs at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Nick Wong opened the scoring, as he streaked down the wing and beat the netminder over the shoulder. Duncan Penman tied the game a minute later, as he picked up the rebound on his own blocked shot and tucked a backhand past Dugas. Kingston thought they had taken the go-ahead goal, but upon review, the goal was ruled off due to a high stick. At the end of the first, the Steelheads and Frontenacs were tied at one.

Kingston took the lead thirty seconds into the second period, as a turnover in front found the stick of Dawson Baker, who put it in the back of the net. With the Steelheads in the penalty box for holding, Lucas Peric took a wrist shot through traffic that found its way past Edmonds to make it 3-1. Aidan Prueter found Richard Whittaker wide open in front of the net, but he put the one-timer just wide. At the end of the second, the Frontenacs had a two goal lead.

The Steelheads started off the third period on the penalty kill, as they turned aside a minor penalty carrying over from the second and a subsequent tripping penalty. Midway through the period, Mississauga went to the powerplay as Vitali Pinchuk tripped up Thomas Harley but were unable to score. Wong found Jordan Frasca with a pass on a 2-on-1, putting the Frontenacs up by three goals. With under two minutes to go, Cole Schwindt found the back of the net on a scramble in front to cut the lead in half. The Steelheads would battle hard for the rest of the game, piling on 26 shots in the third period, but fell by a score of 4-2.

Florida Panthers prospect Cole Schwindt scored a goal in the loss, to extend his point streak to four games (6G, 3A), while Duncan Penman recorded his seventh goal of the season. Mississauga registered 53 shots on goal in the game, falling just shy of a season high set back on October 18th against the Hamilton Bulldogs (54 SOG).
