Oshawa Generals News Release

The Battalion storm the gates of the Tribute Communities Centre for the final time of the season. The Generals are coming off a big 6-5 overtime win last night in Barrie against the Colts. Lleyton Moore scored late in the third to tie the bought; followed by an immediate, silky-smooth goal by Serron Noel eight-seconds into the overtime period. The Battalion also played yesterday in Hamilton, losing 5-1 to the Bulldogs.

Season Record (Last 10 games): Oshawa Generals: 18-11-1-2 (3-5-1-1) - 8th in League Standings

North Bay Battalion: 7-26-0-0 (3-7-0-0) - 20th in League Standings

Season Series: This is the fourth and final time these teams will meet this season. The first three encounters were swept by Oshawa

Game 1; October 4th, 2019: 5-1 Oshawa win

Game 2; October 10th, 2019: 5-4 Oshawa win

Game 3; November 23rd, 2019: 4-3 Oshawa win

Last Meeting: The Generals outlasted the Battalion on November 23rd, besting the Battalion 4-3. Allan McShane started off the scoring for the Generals putting up two in the game - separated by Battalion captain Brad Chenier's tenth goal of the season. A Battalion comeback effort, lead by Brandon Coe was thwarted by Brett Neumann - who was named the first star of the game, putting up a goal and an assist. Andrew MacLean stopped 21 of North Bay's 24 shots, and the Generals put 35 shots on Battalion rookie netminder Joe Vrbetic.

Players to Watch; Oshawa Generals Giovanni Vallati - Fifth-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 2018, Vallati has been rounding out his overall game this season. A leader on the Generals blueline, Vallati has been a fixture on the powerplay with Nico Gross away with team Switzerland at the World Juniors. He is tied with Moore for second in points from the blueline, and leads all pointmen in assists with 14.

Brett Neumann - It would be hard to not pick Neumann as a player to watch entering tonight's contest. The Holiday Hiatus hasn't slowed Neumann one bit - posting a strong two-goal, five-point effort in Barrie. Neumann wasn't just big on the scoresheet, he was a beast in the faceoff dot winning 69% of his 26 faceoffs. The speedster is always ready to blow past opposing defenders on a breakaway or catch enemy forwards on a backcheck.

Player to Watch; North Bay Battalion Brandon Coe - A product of Ajax, Ontario, Coe has taken his game to the next level this season. The past few seasons Coe has been a solid depth player for the Battalion, but this year has become a key member of their forward corps. Coe has Coe had a goal and an assist in the last game played against the Generals. Coe has stepped up offensively to help fill the void left by Matthew Struthers, who was traded to Owen Sound on December 1st. In the six games since Struthers' departure, Coe has raked in five goals and ten points.
