Frogs' Bats Blast Off, 6-2

EVERETT, Wash. - First-round draft pick George Kirby made his much-anticipated professional debut against the Vancouver Canadians in front of a crowd of 3,873 fans. The AquaSox maintained the lead the entire game, defeating the Canadians 6-2.

Billy Cooke started the ball rolling for the Frogs in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run over the right-field fence. Cooke scored again in the sixth inning, tagging up on a sacrifice fly to deep left field from Robert Perez.

Ronny Brito hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the eighth, picking up the Canadians' first run of the game. Tanner Morris followed with another home run, this time over the center field fence, bringing the score to 3-2.

Perez drove in Cooke again in the bottom of the eighth, this time off of an RBI double, just before Austin Shenton crushed a home run over the center field fence, putting the AquaSox ahead 6-2 going into the ninth inning.

Reid Morgan closed the game for the Frogs, pitching 1.2 innings and striking out one batter, successfully clinching the victory.

At the plate, the AquaSox registered seven hits, including two doubles and two home runs. On the mound, Kirby completed two innings, giving up one hit and striking out two while Deivy Florido pitched for 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out two batters.

Up next, the AquaSox hit the road for a three-game series against the Spokane Indians from July 14-16. After that, they head to Gesa Stadium to take on the Tri-City Dust Devils July 17-19.
