Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays host Education Day on May 6th when they host the Tampa Yankees at 11 a.m. Schools from around the Tampa Bay area will spend the day with the D-Jays. The goal of the day is to keep kids fit and healthy, on and off the field.
One school in particular is able to participate in this fun field trip thanks to Friendly Kia. Gulfside Elementary will be in attendance on Tuesday thanks to the transportation supplied by John Gilliss, owner of Friendly Kia.
"We are proud to sponsor Education Day with the Blue Jays and it is our pleasure to help a local elementary school be able to have a fun day at the ballpark," said Gilliss. "We're glad to be able to help the kids get a day outside of the classroom and have a cool field trip as the school year winds down."
"Thanks to the generosity of Kia and the Dunedin Blue Jays, many of our kids will get to see and experience a professional baseball game for the very first time," said Gulfside Elementary Principal Chris Clayton.
"We want to thank John and Friendly Kia for their help," said Mike Liberatore, sales manager for the Dunedin Blue Jays. "It's one of the best days of community outreach. We'll have a few thousand kids out here, and we're happy that Gulfside will get to be a part of it."
Education Day is a yearly event at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Kids will take part in a pregame exercise session and relay race. They'll be able to warm up their muscles and prepare for the game just like the pros. The concourse will be filled with interactive games and activities that will promote healthy living, eating and good lifestyle habits. There will be a mascot and player autograph session and kids will also be able to run the bases after the game.
