West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK - Jeramy Laster drove an RBI triple to the wall in the seventh to tie and Matt Joyce had the go ahead double in the eighth as the Whitecaps rallied past Wisconsin, 4-1.

Luke French twirled seven innings for the Whitecaps and allowed all nine Timber Rattler hits but gave up just one run. The run came on back-to-back doubles to start the game from Luis Valbuena and Robby Hudson.

Five of the nine hits allowed by French were doubles.

Wisconsin held a 1-0 lead behind starting pitcher Paul Fagan until the seventh inning.

Following the go ahead hit by Joyce, Cameron Maybin came up with a double to drive in Joyce. Maybin eventually scored on a single by Rafael Mendez.

Fagan was charged with all four Whitecaps runs and took the loss to fall to 3-9. Reliever and Michigan native Justin Ockerman threw the final two thirds of an inning for the Rattlers.

Rickey Steik pitched the eighth for West Michigan to earn the win and Orlando Perdomo was perfect in the ninth to earn his 18th save.
