Evansville Otters News Release

The Florence Freedom jumped on Evansville Otters pitching for eight runs in the first four innings en route to an 9-3 win.

Dustin Bolton allowed a three run homerun to Kyle Geswein in the bottom of the first to put the Freedom up 3-0. Bolton was making an emergency start in the place of Andre Simpson who had to be scratched with a groin pull.

In the second, Florence got two more on a Josh Sanchez homer to lead 5-0. Evansville made a game of it in the fourth as they got to former Major Leaguer, Corey Thurman with two homers of their own; a two-run blast by Beau Blacken and a solo shot from Mike Spry.

The Freedom scored three in the bottom of the fourth off of Kyle Pawelczyk to put the game out of reach. Florence iced the game in the eighth with a three run long ball by Darin Kinsolving to tally the final score

After a 3-3 roadtrip, the Otters now return home for three with the Ohio Valley Redcoats. Thursday's game is a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday where all 10 oz draft beers and 12 oz soft drinks are $1. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
