Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

O'Fallon, MO - The ThunderBolts loaded the bases in a 1-run game in the 9th inning but couldn't plate the equalizer against the River City Rascals Wednesday night. River City nabbed the series finale 10-9 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.

Each team scored a run at least in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings. Clemente Bonilla touched an RBI single off of River City starter Chris Webb in the 1st. Jason Crosland drilled a 2-run homer in the 3rd. After 3, River City held an 8-5 edge.

In the 4th, the Rascals added a pair of runs against reliever Rick Weber. He hopped out of the bullpen in the 3rd to relieve starter Bobby Mack. He allowed 6 earned runs in 2 innings and a third. Weber's night came to an end after he finished 4 innings and a third.

Windy City's return from 5 down began in the 5th as Justin Schuda torpedoed the 1st pitch he saw against Webb over the right field wall for his 20th dinger. In the 7th, Schuda added another to make it 10-8. His 2-run shot came off of reliever Erik Ebers. It was Schuda's 5th in as many games.

The Bolts scratched another run out in the same frame as Tug Gillingham walked with the bases loaded and one out. Doug Schutt followed with a liner to shortstop that became a double play as shortstop Tony Calderon stepped on second base to terminate Donnie Poles.

In the 9th, Matt Ferrara singled with one out and Mike Lynch doubled. Scott Vetter replaced Lynch at 2nd and the Rascals intentionally walked Donnie Poles. Tug Gillingham followed with a bouncing ball to shortstop that turned into a game-ending 6-4-3 twin killing. River City turned 4 double plays in the game.

For the Bolts, Clemente Bonilla and Matt Ferrara each contributed a season-high 4 hits. Schuda's 2-homer affair was his 3rd multi-homer game of the year. Lenny Bays finishe the game with an inning and a third of scoreless ball.

The win for River City gave the Rascals a 7-5 season series win. 3 of the 4 home wins in 2005 were by a single run.
