Roosters Drop Second Straight To Ohio Valley

Lafayette, Indiana - Richmond dropped its second straight game to Ohio Valley on Tuesday night with a 5-1 defeat. The Roosters scored first, but the Redcoats had a four-run inning in the fifth to go ahead for good. Richmond has now lost 11 of its last 12 games.

The Roosters scored the first run of the game when Tony Sanguinetti hit a broken bat single up the middle in the first inning that scored Joe Rhomberg from second. That gave Richmond a 1-0 lead that would last until the bottom of the fifth when the Redcoats put four runs on the board on five hits. Travis Garcia hit a RBI single, Patrick Sadler hit a two-run homer to left and Darren Uranga hit a solo shot to right to put Ohio Valley on top at 4-1.

The score became 5-1 in the seventh when Nick Batkoski smashed a homer. Chris Jakubauskas (6-3) pitched eight innings for Ohio Valley and struck out 13 batters to get the win. Matt Schweitzer (6-8) pitched all eight innings for the Roosters but still took the loss.

Richmond will complete the season series against Ohio Valley on Wednesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (Indiana time). Dan Caldwell (1-4, 5.72 ERA) will be the starter for the Roosters. Tom Cochran (5-6, 4.99 ERA) will get the ball for the Redcoats.
