Florence Y'alls
A humid night in Florence proved to be a winning charm in a Freedom victory Vs. River City. A crowd of 2,852 fans came to see the Freedom on Shaun Alexander bobblehead night, the second highest attendance for Florence to date.
In the first, Mike Galloway extended his hitting streak to 29 games, one shy of the single season record. A 5 run second kept the game out of reach with a RBI groundout by Catcher Scott Pickens, a Sac Fly by Shortstop Josh Sanchez, Wally Quigg doubled to right center, scoring one, and Mike Galloway doubled to drive in 2 runs. In the 4th, Florence DH Kyle Geswein knocked one out of the ballpark and off the lights in rightfield. In the end, Florence came out victorious 9-2.
SP Mike Dennison went 6, giving up 2 earned runs on 8 hits, striking out 2. Dennison received the win to improve his record to 3-4. On the other side, River City starter Steve McReynolds went 2 and 2/3rd, giving up 5 earned runs, picking up his first loss of the season. Wally Quigg had his fourth 3 hit game, and Scotty Martin hit for 3 for the second time, only the second time that 2 Freedom hitters had 3 hits in the same game. Florence goes for the sweep Sunday at 6:05.
Probables:
River City: Rick Wood (1-4)
Florence: Jason Bowlin (3-1)
