ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Ohio Valley Redcoats rallied for two runs in the fifth inning and survived a bases-loaded threat in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 3-2.

The RiverHawks dropped their second in a row, in front of 1,161 at Marinelli Field, and went 4-5 on their longest homestand of the year.

The Redcoats got on the board with a RBI single from Pat Sadler in the second inning and took the lead in the fifth on back-to-back RBI doubles from Kaliko Oligo and Nick Batkoski.

Doug Schutt led off Rockford's two-run first inning with his third home run.

The RiverHawks put three men in scoring position after the first. In the ninth inning, the ‘Hawks loaded the bases with one out, but Ohio Valley closer Jason Elkins got Ryan Larson to hit into a game-ending double play. Elkins recorded his fifth save.

Ryan Childs (4-1) scattered six hits over 7 1/3 innings for the win. Derek Roper (3-2) lasted seven innings and took the loss.

The RiverHawks hit the road for a three-game series at River City, starting at 7:05 p.m. Monday. They return home at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday, when Miller Lite sponsors Dollar Beer Night.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
