Freedom Complete sweep of Rascals

On another hot and humid night in Florence, Kentucky, the Freedom were looking for a sweep of the River City Rascals. 1,312 came out to Champion Window Field.

In the first, the Rascals jumped ahead on a lead-off homer by Mike Connor. In the bottom half of the first, Mike Galloway doubled to Right tying the single season hit streak record of 30 games. After inning one, Florence led 2-1. After the Rascals scored a pair in the second, the Freedom scored two of their own on a Trevor Hall RBI single and a Kyle Geswein RBI single, and after three, the Freedom led 4-3. In the fifth, Florence went up even more on a Scotty Martin three-run bomb, making it a 7-3 Florence ballgame. In the sixth, Wally "The Wizard" Quigg, hammered a three-run bomb of his own, making it a 10-4 score, which ended up being the final.

Jason Bowlin picked up the win, going six and giving up four ERs, with four strikeouts, while throwing 82 pitches. His counterpart, Rick Wood went five and a third giving up 10 runs, five earned, but he did strike out six on 96 pitches.

Player of the Game:

Scotty Martin, hit a 3 run bomb in the 5th.
