Southern Illinois third baseman Nate Hall drew a bases-loaded walk in the tenth as the Freedom were swept in a 4-3 loss on Wednesday night at Rent One Park.

For the third straight night, the Miners struck first. The first two hitters in the first inning singled against Anthony Bello, scoring on an RBI groundout by Sean Coughlin and an RBI single by Nate Hall to put the Freedom in a 2-0 hole.

Florence got a run back in the fourth on Chris Curley's solo homer to center, his fifth of the season. He is in the Top 5 in the Frontier League with 22 RBI. The Miners would answer with a run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Kenji Sakaguchi.

The Freedom would tie the game with a two-out rally in the sixth. With the bases empty, Curley walked. Mark Samuelson singled and Drew Rundle hit an RBI single to pull the Freedom to within a run. Juan Valdes walked to load the bases, and Miners' manager Mike Pinto was ejected for arguing balls and strikes after the walk. The next batter, Jonathan Cisneros, walked in a run to tie the game at 3.

The teams exchanged scoreless innings until the bottom of the tenth. Relief pitcher Alex Cann walked Eric Suttle to start the inning and Suttle advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. He then moved to third on a passed ball. The Freedom intentionally walked the next two hitters to load the bases, and Cann (0-2) walked Hall to bring home the winning run.

Former Freedom pitcher Ben Shivers (1-1) threw two scoreless innings for the win. Florence travels to Gateway for a three-game series starting on Thursday night at 8:05 ET. Preston Vancil will be on the hill for the Freedom.
