Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Freedom let game four of their series against the Midwest Sliders slip away as two errors led to four unearned runs in a 4-2 loss Saturday night.
After being one of the heroes in a 12-5 win Friday night, Brad Hough committed both of the Freedom errors which later turned into runs.
The first came in the second inning which allowed the Sliders to put up a three spot against Freedom starter Nolan Shaffer who made his professional debut. Zach Pace drove in the second and third runs with a double to right.
The game stayed 3-0 until the sixth. With two outs the Freedom mounted a rally and Hough got it started with a single. He would score one batter later as Jeff Miller doubled him in. Justin Pickett then brought Miller home to make it 3-2.
The Sliders added another unearned run in the seventh against Shaffer to make it 4-2, a score which the game would finish at.
Earl Oakes pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save of the season and the Slider bullpen totaled 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Slider starter Mike Penn went 5.2 innings to improve to 1-0.
The Freedom (2-2) have a couple of off days before traveling to O'Fallon, Missouri to take on the River City Rascals on Tuesday night at 8:05 p.m. Fans can catch the games on the air while the team is on the road on 106.7 FM WNKR or on 1067WNKR.com.
