O'FALLON, MO - River City made it two in a row over the Grizzlies, taking down Gateway 7-4 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. The Rascals scored seven runs for the second consecutive game in their season opener from O'Fallon.
River City (2-0) again bounced early on the Grizzlies, plating three runs in the first. Chris Colton singled home Kevin Reynolds and JoJo Batten to make it 2-0. After a Scott Robinson strikeout, Chad Maddox doubled home Colton for an early 3-0 Rascals lead.
The Rascals plated two more in the third for a 5-0 advantage on back-to-back RBI singles from Ryan Wehrle and Jorge Gutierrez.
Gateway (0-2) got on the scoreboard in the fifth off starter Tyler Musselwhite as Kevin Kotch hit his first homer of the year to make it 5-1.
The Rascals responded with two more in the bottom half of the fifth. Daniel Sawyer delivered with his first hit, an RBI single to center field. Houin followed with his lone run batted in of the game.
