
Frank Brooks Added to Roster, Goodson Returned to Wilmington

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox today added left-handed pitcher Frank Brooks to the Sea Dogs roster from Single-A Wilmington. Right-handed pitcher Matt Goodson was returned to Wilmington after making two starts for the Sea Dogs. Brooks will wear the # 28 and will be active for tonight's game against the Connecticut Defenders (Giants).
Brooks began the season with the Royals organization, in 17 appearances with Triple-A Omaha he was 0-2 with a 5.96 ERA. Brooks was released by the Royals on June 13th and was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent on June 17th where he was assigned to Single-A Wilmington. Brooks did not appear in a game with the Blue Rocks.
The 27-year-old Brooks was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 13th round of the June 1999 draft. He has appeared in 12 major league games with the Pittsburg Pirates and Atlanta Braves. He has a career major league record of 0-1 with a 4.58 ERA. In 299 career minor league games, Brooks is 44-40 with 21 saves and a 3.95 ERA.
In two starts with the Sea Dogs Goodson posted a 1-0 record with a 3.72 ERA. In eight starts for the Blue Rocks this season, Goodson is 0-3 with a 3.83 ERA. The 23-year-old split time with Single-A Greenville and Single-A Wilmington in 2005 posting a combined record of 7-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 26 appearances, 16 as a starter. Goodson was drafted by the Red Sox in the 23rd round of the June 2004 draft.
