Franco Walk-Off Homer Wins It, 6-4

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Maikel Franco's fourth hit of the night was a two-out, two-run walk-off home run for the BlueClaws in their 6-4 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds Monday night.

It was Lakewood's first walk-off home run since June 14, 2010 when Jiwan James hit one against Lexington.

The BlueClaws trailed 4-1 and had just four hits entering the bottom of the 7th inning, but scored three times to tie the ballgame 4-4. Franco notched the game-tying double with the 'Claws trailing 4-3 at the time. He finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored and three RBI.

The win brings Lakewood within 3.0 games of first place Hagesrtown with the Suns losing to Kannapolis Monday night.

The BlueClaws and Shorebirds play Game 2 of their three-game series Tuesday evening. Lakewood will send Gabriel Arias (4-7, 3.81) to the mound to battle Delmarva's Zach Davies (4-6, 3.81).
