
Intimidators Announce 2013 Schedule

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 20, 2012) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and the South Atlantic League have announced the schedule for the 2013 regular season which opens on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Next season will mark the franchise's 19th year of professional baseball in the community and 13th under the "Intimidators" moniker. The Intimidators will open the season on the road at Lakewood, N.J., on April 4, and the team's home opener is Thursday, April 11, against the Hickory Crawdads at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Season tickets for the 2013 campaign are now available by calling (704) 932-3267, and fans that reserve their season tickets prior to December 14 will receive a complimentary season parking pass.
The 140-game season will be divided into halves with the South Atlantic League All-Star Break (June 17-19) serving as the season's midpoint. Kannapolis will play 70 home games and 70 road games. The Intimidators play all 13 other SAL squad and will host 11 different SAL opponents in 2013. Kannapolis plays Northern Division opponents Hickory and Delmarva each 16 times, the most of any opponent.
The Intimidators are home on Wednesday, July 3, for the team's annual Independence Day fireworks display. Kannapolis wraps up the 2013 season at home on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2 against Hagerstown. The team is home for 21 different Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Father's Day (June 16) against the Rome Braves.
The Intimidators franchise moved to town in 1995 as the Piedmont Phillies, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, and spent the 1996-2000 seasons as the Piedmont Boll Weevils before becoming the Kannapolis Intimidators for the 2001 season. The Intimidators have served as a White Sox affiliate since 2001, and the organization's player development contract with Chicago runs through the 2014 season.
