HICKORY, N.C. - Max Kranick battled through his fourth start of the season, but a four-run second against the right-hander proved to be enough as the Hickory Crawdads took the series finale, 6-1, over the Power on Sunday afternoon at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Kranick (0-3) mustered his way through five innings, allowing four runs, all in the second inning, on a career-high eight hits while striking out three.

With West Virginia (31-28) up 1-0 in the bottom of the second thanks to an RBI double from Brett Pope, Kranick allowed a lead-off single to Ryan Dorow. After Tyreque Reed walked, Austin O'Banion doubled to left, scoring Dorow and Reed to put Hickory (25-34) in front 2-1. Kole Enright followed that up with a run-scoring single to push the lead to 3-1 before Preston Scott singled him in four batters later to cap the rally.

Hickory tacked on an additional run in the sixth and eighth innings against Sergio Cubilete on a RBI double and groundout, respectively, from Bubba Thompson to extend their lead to 6-1.

In the loss, Ben Bengtson extended his hitting streak to 11 games, the longest active stretch on the team. The Hartford product is averaging .316 (12-for-38) with six RBI during this span.

Tyree Thompson (3-4) earned the win after holding the Power to one run on six hits over five innings while fanning three. Joe Kuzia and DeMarcus Evans kept the offense scoreless over the final four innings, ceding just two hits and striking out five.

West Virginia now heads to Augusta, South Carolina, where they will take on the GreenJackets in a four-game series. First pitch of game one Monday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from SRP Park. The Power will send LHP Domingo Robles (3-4, 3.42 ERA) to the rubber, while the GreenJackets' pitcher has yet to be determined. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM, as well as online at www.wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App and MiLB First Pitch App.

The Power will return to Appalachian Power Park June 15-17 for a three-game series against the Delmarva Shorebirds. The series will be West Virginia's last homestand of the first half and will be jam-packed with promotions. Fireworks Friday, presented by Electric 102.7 and Huntington Bank, kicks off the homestand on June 15, while on June 16, the Power will celebrate West Virginia Day with a Bluetooth speaker giveaway to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Appalachian Power. West Virginia's first half promotional slate concludes Sunday, June 17, with a Lincoln County Day and Father's Day Kidz Sunday Funday at the ballpark.
