Early Lead Holds as Kannapolis Gets a 4-1 Win

Rome, GA - On a hot Sunday afternoon, it was the Kannapolis Intimidators over the Rome Braves 4-1 before 1,644 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Kannapolis got on the board in the first inning on Tate Blackman's sacrifice fly RBI and added two more runs in the second thanks to Johan Cruz's two run shot to left for the 3-0 score.

The Intimidators struck again the third to make it a 4-0 game when Blackman grounded into a double play to plate a run. Rome notched a run in the seventh on Justin Smith's RBI double for the 4-1 score.

Kannapolis starter Parker Rigler (3-2) earns the win, and Tyler Johnson (7) receives the save. The Braves starter Dilmer Mejia (0-1) is hit with the loss. Mejia was just called up to Rome today from extended spring in Orlando and started the game for the Braves. The Braves pack up and head to Greenville to begin a four game series with the Drive tomorrow evening. Rome returns home on June 15th for a three game series against Lexington.
