Drive Drop Sunday's Series Finale to RiverDogs

Greenville, SC - One bad inning led to the Greenville Drive's demise on Sunday afternoon, as the Charleston RiverDogs scored six times in the fifth inning and came away with a 7-4 victory in the series finale at Fluor Field.

Kutter Crawford (0-3) got off to a stellar start through the first four innings, allowing just two hits, but Charleston (30-31) chased him in the fifth, as they put seven of its first eight batters on base en route to the six-run frame.

The Drive (21-40) jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first when Lorenzo Cedrola and Frankie Rios strung together a pair of hits at the top of the inning. Cedrola then came in to score on an RBI groundout from Michael Osinski.

Rios added a double later in the game, as well as a pair of walks, to reach base in four of five plate appearances. Cedrola's single extended his hitting streak to seven games, and he has now recorded a hit in 18 of his last 20 games.

Greenville was able to cut the lead down to just 6-4 in the sixth after Charleston starter Dalton Lehnen (5-3) walked the bases loaded to start the inning. Pedro Castellanos got the scoring started with an RBI single, his second hit of the ballgame. Castellanos went 2-4 in his first full game back after being on the DL for over a month. A Jordan Wren RBI groundout and a wild pitch scored the other two runs in the sixth for Greenville.

Charleston got one of those three runs back in the next inning on a pair of doubles by Oswaldo Cabrera and Jason Lopez to push the lead back to 7-4.

The Drive got runners on in two of the final three innings but were unable to find the clutch hit to restart the comeback.

Osinski picked up a pair of hits for Greenville to join Castellanos and Rios with multi-hit afternoons.

The homestand continues on Monday night as the Drive welcome the first place Rome Braves to Fluor Field for five games in four days. Right-hander Durin O'Linger (1-0, 0.00) starts the opener for the Drive, and he will be opposed by Braves right-hander Huascar Ynoa (3-6, 4.91).
