
Four New Hampshire Pitchers Combine on Five-Hit Shutout

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)-Dustin McGowan, Rey Gonzalez, Evan Crawford and Clint Everts combined on a five-hit shutout as the Fisher Cats topped Erie 8-0 before 6,697 on Wednesday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
McGowan, a 29-year old right-hander, worked four scoreless innings in a Major League Rehab Assignment. The 2000 first-round draft pick of the Blue Jays has missed the last two seasons with injury. He allowed one hit and two walks while facing the minimum 12 batters.
Rey Gonzalez (7-1) worked three scoreless innings and Evan Crawford and Clint Everts each worked a scoreless frame with a strikeout.
The Fisher Cats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Yan Gomes walked, Mark Sobolewski singled Gomes to third and he scored on sacrifice fly by John Tolisano. Jonathan Diaz followed with an RBI.
In the third inning, Anthony Gose led off with his 12th home run for a 3-0 lead. Moises Sierra singled, Gomes singled and Sobolewski singled to score Sierra with another run.
New Hampshire (64-52) extended the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Sobolewski walked, Tolisano singled, and Diaz walked to load the bases. Sobolewski scored on a groundout by Hechavarria to make it 5-0.
Two more Fisher Cats runs came across in the bottom of the seventh inning. d'Arnaud and Gomes started the inning with singles and both moved up on a wild pitch. Tolisano (2-for-3, 3 RBI) drilled a single scoring both runners for a 7-0 lead.
Sierra hit his 16th homer in the eighth inning for the final run.
Jay Voss (7-6) took the loss for Erie (56-60).
The Fisher Cats and SeaWolves conclude the series on Thursday at 7:05pm. It will be Green Scene Night presented by PSNH and the New Hampshire Department of Economic Development. An Atlas Fireworks Show follows the game. RHP Chad Jenkins (4-4, 4.17) will start for New Hampshire against Erie LHP Drew Smyly (2-0, 0.00).
