San Jose, CA - Three San Jose Giants pitchers combined to shutout the Modesto Nuts in their 4-0 loss at Excite Ballpark on Tuesday night.

Kyle Harrison started the game for the Giants (54-31) and was sharp all night long. The 19 y/o lefty allowed just one base runner in the first three innings. He allowed a scattered single in the fourth while recording seven strikeouts in the first four innings. In the fifth, the Nuts (43-42) had one of their best scoring chances after a pair of one-out walks. Harrison struck out Cesar Izturis Jr. for his ninth K before he was removed from the game with two outs in the inning. Wilkelma Castillo (W, 2-0) followed and induced a groundout to end the threat.

Noelvi Marte doubled to start the sixth inning representing the tying run at the time, but Castillo retired the next three, in order, to squash the threat.

Josias De Los Santos (L, 3-6) started the game for the Nuts. The righty allowed three straight singles in the first inning to allow the Giants to take an early lead. He settled in after that and did not allow another run until the sixth inning when Jario Pomares doubled home two runs.

De Los Santos worked 5.1 innings allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out eight and walking two.

Brooks Crawford (S, 4/5) retired the side in order in the eighth. In the ninth, with the Nuts down four, Robert Perez Jr. and Spencer Packard each singled to bring the tying run to the on-deck circle. Crawford was able to induce a fly out off the bat of Colin Davis and he struck out Corey Rosier to end the game and send the Nuts to just their second shutout of the season.

The Nuts will try to end their four-game skid on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in game two of their six-game series with the San Jose Giants.
