Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
San Bernardino, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes dropped the first game of a seven-game series at San Manuel Stadium, as the 66ers took the opener by a final of 10-3.
Rancho's offense struggled to get on track, as they were no-hit through the first four innings, while the defense committed three errors in helping Inland reach double-digits in the run-column.
Inland Empire took an early lead against Quakes' starter Kyle Hurt, as Braxton Martinez ripped a two-run triple in the first for a 2-0 lead.
Hurt (0-1) would be chased after 40 pitches and just 1.2 innings, as Inland Empire extended their lead to 3-0 in the second.
Trailing 6-0 in the sixth, the Quakes finally struck against 66ers' starter Adam Seminaris (4-5), as Sam McWilliams clubbed a two-run homer, his seventh of the year to make it 6-2.
Inland would score four of the next five runs though, putting it out of reach thanks to three in the eighth against Michael Martinez, as they took a commanding 10-3 lead.
Rancho (47-36) will look to get their first win of the series on Wednesday, sending Kendall Williams (3-3) to the mound against Jack Kochanowicz (4-2) at 7:05pm.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 17th, as they host the San Jose Giants in a huge six-game series with playoff implications. Tuesday the 17th will be another Temblores Tuesday, as the Quakes will wear Temblores caps and jerseys, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
