
Four Flying Tigers Selected to FSL All-Star Game June 20 in St. Lucie

Lakeland, FL - The Florida State League (FSL) 2015 All-Star teams have been announced by League President Ken Carson. This year marks the first time players had a vote in the selection process. Starting pitchers Ryan Longstreth and Kevin Ziomek, outfielder Ben Verlander and First Baseman Dominic Ficociello will represent the Flying Tigers at the 54th annual FSL All-Star Game. The game will take place at Tradition Field in St. Lucie, home of the St. Lucie Mets, on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m.
Kevin Ziomek currently leads the Flying Tigers with 4 wins and 67 strikeouts. His strikeout total currently ranks second in the FSL and he ranks 4th in innings pitched with 63.1. He also has the fourth highest strikeout rate in the league at 9.52 per nine innings. Ziomek was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the June 2013 draft while attending Vanderbilt University. Ryan Longstreth is currently second on the team with 31 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .239 batting average against. Longstreth was selected by the Tigers in the 40th round of the June 2012 draft while attending Central Michigan University.
Dominic Ficociello currently leads the Flying Tigers in batting average (.305), hits (62), total bases (79), on-base percentage (.368), slugging percentage (.389) and OPS (.757). His batting average ranks 6th in the FSL and he is 4th in the league in hits. Ficociello was selected by the Tigers in the 12th round of the June 2013 draft while attending the University of Arkansas. Ben Verlander currently leads the Flying Tigers with 9 doubles and is 2nd on the team with 3 home runs. He is also 3rd on the team in both RBI (18) and OPS (.638). Verlander was drafted by the Tigers in the 14th round of the June 2013 draft while attending Old Dominion University.
