
Clearwater Threshers Place Four on FSL All-Star Team

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida State League has announced its roster for the 54th All-Star Game and four Threshers are on the team. Pitchers Brandon Leibrandt and Mark Leiter plus catcher Andrew Knapp and infielder Angelo Mora were selected from the Clearwater squad. All four are making their first FSL All-Star Game appearance.
The Threshers will be representing the North Division of the FSL playing against the South Division All-Stars. The game is at St. Lucie's Tradition Field, home of the St. Lucie Mets, on Saturday, June 20, at 7 p.m. Voters included coaches, broadcasters, official scorers, and for the first time, players.
Leibrandt is a 22-year old starting pitcher. The left-hander was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 draft out of Florida State University. Leibrandt's record is 5-2 with a 3.13 ERA, he leads the Threshers in wins and strikeouts (58), and leads the league in innings pitched (69.0). He is ranked #26 on MLB.com's Top 30 Phillies Prospects.
Leiter, 24, is a third-year professional from New Jersey Institute of Technology who has a 3-1 record. His 1.75 ERA ranks third in the league. The right-handed starting pitcher leads the FSL in average against (.188) and in WHIP (0.86). Leiter has pitched in 12 games this season and has started his last six appearances.
Knapp is a 23-year old second round selection out of the University of California at Berkely by the Phillies in the 2013 draft. The switch-hitting catcher leads the team in walks (19) and runs scored (28) and co-leads in triples (3). Through 51 games, Knapp has 51 hits. He is ranked #12 on the MLB.com list of Top 30 Phillies Prospects.
Mora is a 22-year old infielder from the Dominican Republic, and was signed by the Phillies in 2011. The switch-hitter is batting .323 with seven doubles through 35 games played. He has split his time this season between second base and shortstop.
The festivities on June 20 start at 5:30 p.m. with the Home Run Derby and will be capped off with post-game fireworks. Tickets are available and start at $8 and may be purchased online at StLucieMets.com or by calling 772-871-2115.
