Four first period goals pace Stingrays in 6-1 win

N. CHARLESTON, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays scored 4 goals on 19 shots in the first period, and went on to a 6-1 victory in front of 5,110 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Stingrays defenseman Rod Brindley scored twice, while Matt Desrosiers scored a powerplay goal and Jeff Boulanger scored his first goal of the season for South Carolina, and the Stingrays opened a 4-0 lead in the first period. Joel Irving and Dave Seitz added second period goals, and the Stingrays led 6-0 after 40 minutes. Grrrowl starting goaltender DAN McINTYRE was pulled with 7:55 remaining in the second period after allowing 6 goals on 31 shots. KRZYZSTOF WIECKOWSKI spoiled the shutout bid of David Brumby in the third period, but the Stingrays posted the 6-1 win. MICHAEL GARNETT stopped the 10 shots he faced after replacing McIntyre at 12:05 of the second period. South Carolina outshot Greenville, 41-28.
