Kowalsky Scores 500th Career Point

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Roanoke Express forward Rick Kowalsky earned his 500th career point on Friday night in a 4-3 shootout loss vs. the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. The milestone point came as an assist on Roanoke's second goal at 6:21 of the second period. The Express team captain currently ranks in the top ten of the East Coast Hockey League in scoring with 69 points (23 goals, 46 assists).

Kowalsky, who is in his second season with the Roanoke Express, has earned the 500 points in 560 career professional games. The 30-year-old Simcoe, Ontario native began his professional career in 1993-94 with the Corwall Aces of the American Hockey League. In 65 games with the Aces, he picked up 17 points. Since 1994, the former 10th round pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 1992, has played parts of seven years in the ECHL, four with the Hampton Road Admirals, one with the Trenton Titans, and two with the Express. Kowalsky has also spent parts of five seasons in the AHL with Cornwall, the Portland Pirates, and the Norfolk Admirals.

As a member of the Roanoke Express, Kowalsky has played in 121 games, scoring 152 of his career 500 points (58 goals, 94 assists). Last season with the Express, he put together a career-year notching 83 points in 70 games, which earned him an appearance in the mid-season All-Star game. In 2002-03, Kowalsky is on pace to set another career-high for points in one season.
