Foster, Cassivi Become 10th, 11th Wolves Recalled by Atlanta

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Kurtis Foster and goaltender Frederic Cassivi from the Chicago Wolves. This is the first trip of the season to the National Hockey League for both players, who are two of 11 players to be recalled by the Thrashers this season.

Foster leads American Hockey League blueliners and ranks third on the Wolves with seven power play goals this season. Overall, the Carp, Ontario, native shares first among AHL defensemen with nine goals this season.

The 23-year-old Foster ranks second among Wolves blueliners with 11 assists and 20 points in 47 games this season.

Foster, who made his National Hockey League debut against the New York Rangers on March 31, 2003, was scoreless in two games with Atlanta last season.

Cassivi is currently on a season-high four-game winning streak, allowing just six goals during that span. Overall, the Sorel, Quebec native has registered a 9-5-5-2 mark with a .917 save percentage in 23 games with Chicago this season.

The 28-year-old netminder posted a 1-1-0 mark and a 5.37 goals-against average with Atlanta last season, which includes a 4-3 overtime victory against the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 17.

Overall, the Sorel, Quebec, native has posted a 3-4-0 record with a 3.90 goals-against average in eight NHL games with the Thrashers spanning the last two seasons.
