Bulldogs Unbeaten Streak Snapped

TORONTO, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs had their six-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday night as they lost 3-2 to the Toronto Roadrunners at the Ricoh Coliseum. The Bulldogs record through 49 games stands at 26 wins, 15 losses, 6 ties and 2 overtime losses.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at the 8:33 mark of the first period as Jonathan Ferland tipped a Philippe Plante wrist shop past Roadrunners goaltender Stephen Valiquette. Marcel Hossa also picked up an assist on the goal.

Just 24 seconds later the Roadrunners evened the score 1-1 when former Bulldogs forward Michael Henrich scored his seventh goal of the season. Four of Henrich's seven goals this season has came against his former club.

Toronto scored the lone goal of the second period at 17:30 as another former 'Dog, J.J. Hunter put a rebound in through the legs of Hamilton's Eric Fichaud.

In the third period the Bulldogs pulled even as Karl Dykhuis ripped a slap shot from the point and into the Roadrunners goal on a 5-on-3 power play. Time of the goal was 4:05.

However, the Roadrunners would have the final goal on the night. Chad Hinz scored the game-winner for the Toronto at 8:26 of the third period.

In goal, Eric Fichaud made 28 saves and took the loss for the Bulldogs. Stephen Valiquette earned the victory as he stopped 44 of the Bulldogs 46 shots on the night.

Roadrunners defenceman Jeff Woywitka led all players offensively on Friday with three assists.

*NOTE: It was announced by the American Hockey League on Friday that Hamilton defenceman Mike Komisarek, who had been selected to play for PlanetUSA at the AHL All-Star game, will be unavailable as he is currently with the NHL's Montreal Canadiens.

The North Division leading Bulldogs will conclude their seven-game road trip on Saturday, January 30th, as they will travel to Syracuse to face the Syracuse Crunch. The Hamilton Bulldogs next home game will take place on Wednesday, February 4th at 7:00 p.m. when they host their border rivals, the Rochester Americans, at Copps Coliseum.
