Forward Jack Downing Loaned to Iowa; Stingrays Add Dale Mitchell

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that forward Jack Downing has been loaned to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate transaction, the Stingrays signed forward Dale Mitchell. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Downing, 25, skated in 11 AHL contests this season with the Providence Bruins registering no points and two penalty minutes. In 21 games with the Stingrays, the New Canaan, Connecticut, native scored 10 goals and five assists for 15 points. Last season, Downing appeared in 34 games with the Elmira Jackals (ECHL) adding 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points and netted four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 19 contests with their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Mitchell, 24, dressed in 25 games with the San Francisco Bulls (ECHL) this season scoring 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points. Currently in his fourth full professional season, the Mississauga, Ontario, native holds 65 contests of ECHL experience with the Bulls and Reading Royals, totaling 58 points (29 goals, 29 assists), and 62 American Hockey League game with the Toronto Marlies and Syracuse Crunch adding 16 points (seven goals, nine assists). In 2007, Mitchell was selected in the third round (74 overall) of the National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Stingrays host the Greenville Road Warriors on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
