BIG BEER TUESDAY / I LOVE THE 90'S NIGHT
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After closing out the month of January win another win, the Cyclones hope to open a new month in similar fashion as they welcome the Fort Wayne Komets to U.S. Bank Arena. The teams have split the first two meetings of their eight-game season series, with Cincinnati able to mount a 5-4 shootout victory the last time they hooked up.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT / SUPER HERO NIGHT: The Cyclones will wear specialty "Captain America" jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit AFTA! Plus, in addition to a FREE Cyclones cape for the first 1,500 fans ages 2-12, there will be a special appearance by Ironman!
SCOUTING THE KOMETS: Gary Graham's club dropped an overtime decision last night vs. Elmira and now sit nine points out of the North Division lead. Despite the team's near .500 record, Brandon Marino is the ECHL's leader in scoring with 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 41 games this season. He's notched four points against the Cyclones in his two meetings thus far. The Komets added another big offensive weapon this week when they inked forward Dean Ouellet, who had been playing for San Francisco before the team ceased operations. This season, the second-year pro has amassed 30 tallies (10 goals, 20 assists) in 38 tilts. The duo of Ben Meisner and Andrey Makarov have shared the goaltending workload this season. Meisner, after suffering the OT defeat last night, is 7-10-2 in 2013-14 with a 2.50 goals-against average while Makarov, who lost his only meeting with Cincinnati this year, is 11-7-1-1 with a 2.79 GAA.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: NOVEMBER 9, 2013: Mickey Lang's late shorthanded goal proved the be the difference maker as the Komets rallied back to beat the Cyclones by a 3-2 final score in front of 5,747 at U.S. Bank Arena. The loss snapped the Cyclones season-opening seven game winning streak.
Multi-Point Masters: Cincinnati has enjoyed a balanced attack on offense this season. In fact, 16 players on the active roster have notched a multi-point game this season. Anthony Luciani leads the Cyclones in this category, with 11 such contests.
Terrific Two's: Cincy has been unbeatable this season when netting the first two goals of the game, going 12-0 in such situations. The Cyclones have also excelled when scoring first, earning a 18-4-1 mark.
Pick a Winner: It's hard to predict who will score the game-winning goal for Cincinnati on a given night. Of their 26 wins, 20 different players have been credited with the "GWG."
