The Gwinnett Gladiators will welcome in the aptly named Orlando Solar Bears Saturday night for the 11th annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Following the Gladiators' first goal of the evening, fans will throw their new or gently used stuffed animals on to the ice for the team to collect, and then donate to local children's hospitals and charities throughout the metro-Atlanta area.

This will also be Gwinnett's third of four straight games against Orlando, and ninth contest of the season. The Gladiators are 3-5 against the Solar Bears this season, but have played better against the team as of late. Gwinnett has won two of the last three games against Orlando, scoring three or more goals each time.

Glads Notes:

New Faces in New Places: New Gladiators Mathieu Corbeil and Matt Clune have already made an impact in Gwinnett. Corbeil has started the last two games in net, posting a 2.51 GAA and a .917 save percentage with the team so far, while Clune chipped in two assists in his Gladiator debut on January 23rd. Goaltender Scott Stajcer has yet to play minutes for Gwinnett, as have new defensemen Art Bidlevskii and Eric Springer, who arrived in Duluth just before game time on Thursday.

Super Special Teams: In 2014, opponents are only 6-for-61 on their power plays (9.8%) against the Gladiators. Of the 13 games played in 2014, Gwinnett has had a perfect penalty kill in eight games. The PK at home has been especially lethal all year - opponents have only scored on eight of 79 extra man chances all season (10.1%). Overall, the Gladiators rank 5th in the ECHL, killing off 87.2% of opposing power plays. On the man advantage, Gwinnett has at least one power play tally in 15 of the last 23 games, going 15-for-77 (19.5%) over that stretch.

Staying Disciplined: Gwinnett is the fourth-least penalized team in the ECHL, averaging just 12.60 penalty minutes per game. Only the Cincinnati Cyclones (11.58), South Carolina Stingrays (11.86), and Elmira Jackals (12.12) average fewer penalty minutes.

Streaking Glads: Rookie forward Marshall Everson has eight points in his last nine games (4g, 4a) ... Alternate Captain Dirk Southern has eleven points in his last 13 games (2g, 9a) ... Coyotes prospects Josh Currie and Brendan Walker led the offense in the month of January (7g, 4a for Currie, 5g, 3a for Walker) ... Defenseman Daniel Spivak has finished a game with a minus in only nine of his 38 games played this season, and hasn't gone below a -1.

Snippets: When scoring three or more goals the Gladiators are 15-5-1-1 ... Gwinnett is 13-0 when leading after two periods ... The Gladiators are 13-8 when scoring first, while opponents are 19-3 when Gwinnett gives up the first goal ... Gwinnett's PK at home has been outstanding in 2014, as opponents to visitors have gone a combined 1-for-28 (3.6%) on the man advantage since January 2nd.
