Former Grrrowl forward Simon Gamache records goal, seven shots

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Chicago Wolves, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Greenville Grrrowl, opened their best-of-five Calder Cup Playoff Series against the Hershey Bears with a 3-2 win in front of 3,318 at All State Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Sunday. Game two is scheduled for Wednesday night in Chicago.

SIMON GAMACHE recorded seven shots and a powerplay goal in the winning effort for Chicago. Gamache was the co-MVP of the East Coast Hockey League playoffs last season as the Greenville Grrrowl claimed the 2002 Kelly Cup Championship.

There are now eight teams left in the race for the 2003 Kelly Cup. In the ECHL Southern Conference, The Columbia Inferno remain unbeaten in the post-season. On the heels of a 3-game sweep over Greenville, the Inferno have a two-games-to-none lead over the Pee Dee Pride in their best-of-five Southeast Division Finals Series. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Florence Civic Center. In the Southwest Division, Mississippi leads Louisiana two-games-to-none with Game 3 tonight (Monday) in Biloxi.

In the Northern Conference, Cincinnati leads Toledo two-games-to-none with Game 3 in Cincinnati tomorrow night. And the first two games of the series featuring Greensboro and Atlantic City have gone to overtime, with each team winning one of those games. The Greensboro Generals host Game 3 on Wednesday night.
