Condors defense shines

C Jason Jackman scored at 11:21 of the first overtime period to give the Condors a 2-1 win in Game One of the Taylor Cup Playoffs on Friday night. RW Jamie Cooke ripped home his first of the post season on a nice single-effort play to give Bakersfield the 1-0 lead in the first period. San Diego got on the board in the third period, tying the game on a goal by C Sylvain Deschatelets. The game headed into overtime tied at one apiece, and the Condors defense took over. When Jackman scored to win the game, the Gulls had gone without a shot on goal in the extra session, and been held to just 15 shots over the final 51 minutes.

San Diego storms back

San Diego tied the series up with a 3-1 win in Bakersfield on Saturday night. The Condors took the lead again in the first period, when C Paul Willett scored on the power play. It was the fifth playoff goal of his Condors career and first of this post-season. San Diego answered, with a power play goal of their own on a 5-on-3 advantage. San Diego came back with another power play goal early in the second period for their first lead of the series. The Condors never could tie the game up, as the Gulls defense was strong on this night. San Diego added another tally with an empty net goal with just 7.7 second remaining.

This Week

The Condors travel to San Diego this week for Games Three, Four and Five on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the San Diego Sports Arena. All three games start at 7:00pm. All games, home and away, can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to face off, with Condors Broadcaster Kevin Bartl handling the play-by-play.

While all three games in San Diego will be played, Game Six back in Bakersfield is contingent upon those results. If necessary, it will be played at Centennial Garden on Sunday, April 20th, with a special 6:00pm start. Tickets for this game will go on sale as soon as the game is certain to be played. If both teams reach two wins in the series, Game Six will be necessary.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. If there is a game on Sunday, the box office will open at noon. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Notes

· C Paul Willett and RW Jamie Cooke both have five career playoff goals, to lead the franchise list.

· After both the Gulls and the Condors going a combined 0-for-7 on the power play on Friday night, the two clubs were 3-for-12 on the man advantage Saturday night.

· Bakersfield has been outshot 27-12 in the first period so far in the series. However, they have outscored San Diego 2-1.

· Saturday's crowd of 5,291 was the largest playoff crowd in Condors history. The 10,097 total over the weekend was also the most for a two-game playoff set as well.

· D David Bell was given a match penalty for a hit on Gulls G Trevor Koenig on Saturday, and will likely miss Tuesday's contest.
