Force's Jackson and Lee earn player of the month honors

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, May 26, 2005 – The Arena Football League announced today that Georgia Force wide receiver/linebackers Chris Jackson and Derek Lee were named the League's U.S. Army Ironman and Rookie of the Month for May respectively.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN: JACKSON (6-2, 220, Washington State) helped the Force clinch their first Southern Division title in May and secure the top seed in the National Conference. In three games, he hauled in 27 passes for 352 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Jackson made 2.0 tackles. On special teams he returned 10 kickoffs for 197 yards and a score. Jackson was named Offensive Player of the Week for Week 15 in the Force's playoff-clinching win over the Tampa Bay Storm and set a club record with 173 receiving yards in the Force's win over Dallas. This marks the second time that the former Cougar has earned an AFL monthly honor.

ROOKIE: LEE (6-5, 215, Tennessee Tech), was selected earlier in the week to the 2005 AFL All-Rookie Team and caught 19 passes for 199 yards and six touchdowns in the final three games of the regular season. Defensively, he recorded 4 tackles and one pass defended and was named Defensive Player of the Game in Week 16 against Dallas. This marks the first time that Lee has earned an AFL monthly honor.

The 2005 Southern Division champion Georgia Force (11-5) open the "Drive to ArenaBowl XIX Las Vegas" playoffs by hosting a Divisional Round game against the fourth seeded Tampa Bay Storm (10-6) on Sunday, May 29th at 3:30 p.m. in Philips Arena.
