Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

Chris Avery, who led all fullback/linebackers in nearly every offense, defense and special teams categories was selected to the AFL's All-Ironman Team for the second time in his career after his outstanding season in all three aspects of Arena Football.

Avery led all fullback/linebackers in the AFL in rushing yards (251), yards per rush (4.6), total touchdowns (17), total points scored (104), total offensive yards (446), total touches (67), receptions (13), receiving yards (195), yards per reception (15.0), receiving touchdowns (three), total tackles (55.5), first downs (30) and fantasy football points (310 or 19.4 per game). He also led all players in the league in special teams tackles (18.5), while being the long snapper on all of the Rampage's field goals and extra points. Avery's 14 rushing scores were second in the AFL and his 4.0 sacks were fifth among fullback/linebackers.

"Chris Avery is the embodiment of what Arena Football is all about," stated Rampage head coach Sparky McEwen. "He truly is an Ironman from the offensive and defensive sides of the ball along with special teams. Statistically, Chris' 2005 season will go down as one of, if not the greatest overall season by a fullback/linebacker in AFL history."

After the 2003 season, Avery earned his first AFL All-Ironman Team selection. This marks the fourth time in team history a Rampage player has been named to the AFL's All-Ironman team – Michael Baker, 1999; Chris Ryan, 2002; Chris Avery, 2003, 2005.
