New Orleans VooDoo News Release

New Orleans VooDoo OL/DL B.J. Cohen was named to the Arena Football League's 2005 U.S. Army All-Ironman Team. Cohen's selection is based on an outstanding performance on offense and defense in 2005. This marks the third time in Cohen's career that he has received this honor. He was previously selected to the team in 2000 and 2003.

Cohen, (6-2, 280, Marshall) enjoyed the finest season of his seven-year AFL career in his second season in New Orleans. Starting all 16 games, Cohen recorded 33 tackles, 9.5 sacks for -46 yards, 4.5 tackles for a loss, one interception and six passes defensed. One of the AFL's unofficial all-time receiving leaders at the tight end position, Cohen led New Orleans linemen with seven receptions for 53 yards with one touchdown on offense.

Cohen set a VooDoo record by recording three sacks against Columbus on April 16. For his efforts he was named the ADT Defensive Player of the week. At the midway point of the season, he was named the AFLWA's Lineman of the Mid-Year after recording five points in his first seven games.

Cohen set career-highs in total tackles, solo tackles, sacks, tackles for a loss and passes defensed. He finished the season ranked second in the league in sacks and first in combined tackles for a loss (14). He is a candidate for the league's Lineman of the Year award, which will be announced on Tuesday, May 31. Cohen was announced as a First Team All-Arena selection yesterday.
