Cornelius White named to AFL's All-Ironman Team

COLUMBUS, OH – Wide receiver/linebacker Cornelius White of the Columbus Destroyers has been named to the U.S. Army All-Ironman Team by the Arena Football Leauge, it was announced Thursday. Players were selected as a result of their prowess in all aspects of the game in 2005.

In his third season with the Destroyers, the eight-year AFL veteran played in all 16 games with the Destroyers and compiled one of his best seasons as a professional, finishing with a career-high 91 catches for 1,135 yards and a team-leading 22 receiving touchdowns, while adding his 23rd touchdown of the season on a kickoff return. It was the second consecutive season White surpassed 1,000 yards receiving.

Defensively, White was the club's fourth-leading tackler, making 42.0 stops (35 solo) with one forced fumble and one pass deflection. His 42 tackles in 2005 was the most since 2000, when he recorded a career-high 45.5 tackles during his first season with the Carolina Cobras. White finished the season in impressive fashion, making 20 catches for 281 yards and eight touchdowns with 11 tackles defensively during the final three games of the season. In Columbus' first game of the season, White became the franchise's all-time leader in career receiving yards, making him the club's career leader in all major receiving categories. In three years with the team, White has recorded 232 catches for 3,047 yards and 59 touchdowns.
