(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends broke a 1-1 tie with six runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 9-2 win over the West Virginia Power 9-2 Wednesday night.

Legends starter Mike Foltynewicz (9-1) picked up his South Atlantic League-leading ninth win of the season. He went six and one-third innings, allowed two runs, struck out four batters and walked three.

Lexington opened the scoring with a run in the third. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Chan Jong Moon, and scored on Zach Johnson's sacrifice fly to center field.

West Virginia tied the game in the top of the fifth when Junior Sosa hit his second home run of the season.

Justin Gominsky led off the bottom of the fifth with a bunt single, and advanced to second on a throwing error by Power pitcher Zack Dodson, who had fielded the bunt. DeShields followed with a bunt single, moving Gominsky to third. After DeShields stole second, his league leading 42nd steal of the season, Moon lined a homer over the left field fence, giving the Legends a 4-1 lead. One out later, Matt Duffy reached second base on an error by first baseman Jose Osuna. Duffy moved to third on Mike Kvasnicka's single, and Jesse Wierzbicki walked to load the bases. A balk by Power starter Zack Dodson allowed Duffy to score as Kvasnicka moved to second. Meredith then tripled to left center field, scoring both runners, and the Legends led 7-1.

The Power got a run back in the seventh. Walks to Osuna and Sosa and a single by Elias Diaz loaded the bases with one out. After Evan Grills relieved Foltynewicz, Chris Lashmet grounded into a force play at second as Osuna scored.

Lexington added another run in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Meredith walked. He moved to second on a single by Roberto Pena, and to third on Gominsky's single. A walk to Moon forced in a run, making the score 8-2. Pena had two hits in the game, and owns a 10-game hitting streak.

In the bottom of the eighth, Wierzbicki drew a two-out walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third when Brandon Meredith reached on an error by third baseman Francisco Aponte. Pena's single scored Wierzbicki with the game's final run.

Dodson (1-5) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends will remain at home for a four-game series against the Asheville Tourists. First pitch Thursday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
