LAKEWOOD, NJ - The bottom of the fifth ended up being the final inning for the Lakewood BlueClaws bats and they made the most of it with two runs, taking a 3-1 lead before fog ended the game after the top of the sixth. The win split the series with the Hagerstown Suns and coupled with a loss by the Delmarva Shorebirds, gets the BlueClaws back to 1.5 games ahead in the division.

With one out in the fifth, Anthony Gose hit a double to left before Steve Susdorf walked to put two runners on. A wild pitch from starter Paul Demny moved the runners up a base before a two-run single by Jim Murphy broke a 1-1 tie, giving the BlueClaws (34-24) a 3-1 lead.

The Suns (26-29) took an early lead when the league-leader in home runs, Derek Norris hit a solo shot, his 13th to take a 1-0 lead. That would be all the scoring the Suns would muster as Heitor Correa (3-2) scattered 11 base runners over 5.2 innings, only allowing the one run on the solo home run.

The BlueClaws scored their first run in the fourth inning as Jeremy Hamilton doubled and Troy Hanzawa brought him home with a single to tie the game at one.

Before the fog ended the game, the Suns had their biggest threat. With a man on, Correa walked Jose Lozada and then was lifted from the game. Justin De Fratus then came on and walked Steve Lombardoizzi before getting Norris to ground out with the bases loaded, ending the inning.

Demny (1-5), the starter for the Suns, went 4.2 innings and allowed three runs in the loss, as the BlueClaws avoided losing their third game in a row. The BlueClaws move to 6-0 when losing their two previous games.

The BlueClaws will now travel to East Lake, OH for a three-game series with the Lake County Captains beginning Friday night at 7:00 pm. The BlueClaws will call on Jesus Sanchez (1-4) while the Captains will look to TJ House (1-6)
