TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Binghamton Mets will meet in the opener of a four-game series...The Flying Squirrels avoided a series sweep against the Reading Phillies on Sunday afternoon as Daryl Maday and Tony Pena Jr. combined on a four-hit shutout of the R-Phils in a 6-0 Richmond win.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in game one of the series for the Flying Squirrels...

Suffered his second loss of the season after giving up six runs on seven hits in four innings plus four batters against Erie 5/19...Gave up two runs in the first inning and four runs in the fifth...Six runs and seven hits allowed were career highs...Four-plus innings was his shortest start of the season...Threw 79 pitches, 49 strikes...Recorded five ground outs and three fly outs...Two of the seven hits allowed were home runs...Six earned runs allowed were the most by a Richmond pitcher this season...Had won four of his previous six starts including each of his last two...Had allowed just seven runs over his previous six starts (37 2/3 innings)...Leads the Eastern League in fewest base runners per nine innings at 8.87 (46/46.2 IP) and WHIP (0.96)...Tied for second in the Eastern League with a .193 batting average against.

HIT PARADE: The Flying Squirrels matched a season-high with 13 hits in Sunday's 6-0 win over Reading...It was the third time this season that Richmond racked up 13 hits in a game...The other two times were 5/3 against Altoona and 4/21 against New Britain.

IT'S IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN LOSING: Prior to yesterday's four-hit, shutout win, the Flying Squirrels had lost six of their last seven games...The pitching staff had given up 10-plus hits in five of the six losses, and the club had given up 39 runs on 69 hits in the losing efforts (6.5R, 11.5H/G)...Over the previous seven games, Richmond starters had worked five innings or more just twice...Flying Squirrels' starters had allowed 21 runs, 19 earned, in 23 innings over the last seven games (7.43 ERA) and the pitching staff had allowed 10 home runs over the previous seven games including giving up three home runs 5/15, 5/19, and 5/22.

WELCOME BACK: First baseman Andy D'Alessio had an impressive return from the disabled list on Sunday going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, four RBIs, and a run scored...The four hits and four RBIs matched career-highs for the 25-year-old...It was only the second four-hit game for a Flying Squirrel batter this season (Darren Ford, 4/21 vs. New Britain)...The Clemson University product had not appeared in a game since May 3rd after going on the DL with a right rotator cuff strain.

T-PAIN: Right-hander Tony Pena Jr. extended his scoreless innings streak to 11 1/3 after tossing two scoreless frames against Reading on Sunday afternoon...The infielder-turned-pitcher ranks second among Eastern League relievers in baserunners per nine innings at 6.75 (20/26.2 IP) and is fourth in walks per nine innings 1.69 (5/26.2 IP) and fifth in opponent batting average against (.163).

NO SHOCKER: Third baseman Conor Gillaspie is hitting .406 (13-for-32) over his last eight games after being left out of the starting line up on consecutive days (5/13, 5/14) against Altoona...The 22-year-old has two doubles, a triple, six RBI, and five runs scored over his last eight games...He has struck out just twice and has walked once...The former first-round pick out of Wichita State is also 6-for-8 with runners in scoring position over that span with five RBI...His average has climbed from .198 to .243.

SOMETHING BRUIN: Shortstop Brandon Crawford is 10-for-28 (.357) with hits in seven of his last eight games including each of the last six...He has a double, a triple, a home run, three RBI, and six runs scored over his last seven contests...The UCLA product has also walked seven times and struck out five times over that span and has seen his average rise from .225 to .252.

BURNT KIESCH-NICK: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick is 0-for-33 over his last eight games since seeing his five-game hit streak come to an end...He has struck out seven times and has walked once over that span...The 23-year-old seen his average dip from .306 to .240...Kieschnick was 8-for-15 (.533) over his five-game hitting streak with three home runs, nine RBI, and three runs scored.

MAKING THEIR PITCH: The Flying Squirrels' pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.92 ERA...The club has also allowed an Eastern League-low 138 runs...Richmond pitching leads the Eastern League with seven shutouts.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 54 double plays in their first 43 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned and has not gone more than two games without turning a double play.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Yesterday's 6-0 matched the most one-sided victory of the season for the Flying Squirrels...The club defeated Altoona 7-1 on 5/14...It was also the club's largest shutout win o
