SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will aim for their second straight win when they take on the Harrisburg Senators in the finale of a five-game series at Metro Bank Park today. Last night, Richmond got a sacrifice fly from Tommy Joseph that scored Gary Brown in the top of the 10th inning, which snapped a 4-4 tie and gave the Flying Squirrels a 5-4 victory over the Senators in 10 innings. The Flying Squirrels built a 4-0 lead on the strength of a two-run home run by Ryan Cavan in the third inning and a two-run double by Daniel Mayora in the fourth frame. Squirrels starter Chris Gloor turned in an outstanding performance by working a career-high 6.2 scoreless innings, in which he allowed three hits and struck out five batters. But the Senators struck for four runs in the bottom of the ninth, taking advantage of Ehire Adrianza's second error of the game and an untimely wild pitch from Brett Bochy, to even the score at 4-4 and force extra innings. Brown, whose 12-game hit streak was snapped, reached on hit by pitch to start the frame and he advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Adrianza. Brown slid in safely at third on a fielder's choice off the bat of Mark Minicozzi and Joseph followed with the game-winning sac fly. Bochy (6-2) earned the win in relief, but was charged with his fifth blown save. Hector Nelo (1-3) took the loss for Harrisburg and Edwin Quirarte worked a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 10th to pick up his second save. The Flying Squirrels went 13-8 against Harrisburg in 2011 including a 10-5 mark in the River City. Richmond is 22-18 all-time against the Senators and the club is 11-8 all-time at Metro Bank Park. The two teams will meet 20 times in 2012, 10 times in Harrisburg and 10 times in Richmond. The Flying Squirrels swept Harrisburg in an abbreviated two-game series at Metro Bank Park in early May (5/7-5/9). Harrisburg won two out of three games against the Flying Squirrels at The Diamond in mid-May (5/15-17). Following this five-game series, the two teams will meet again at The Diamond for a three-game series August 7-9.

The Flying Squirrels are now 10-2 in games decided in extra innings this season. Akron ranks second in the circuit in extra-innings wins with eight.

ME GUSTA MAYORA: Squirrels third baseman Daniel Mayora is swinging a hot bat. He went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs last night, which matched his career-high in hits.
