Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland, Maine - A night after matching a season high with 18 hits, the Sea Dogs managed just two Sunday afternoon as their four game win streak was snapped with a 5-1 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats before a crowd of 7,108.

New Hampshire starter Ryan Tepera, making his first start for the Fisher Cats since May 2nd, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Tepera (3-1) fired 5.1 innings allowing one run on one hit while striking out six and walking three.

Ryan Goins delivered a two run single in the third inning to give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead. Joel Galarraga added a two run single of his own in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 4-0, which was more than enough run support for Tepera.

Tepera struggled with his control in the sixth inning issuing a walk to Zach Gentile. Gentile advanced to third base after two wild pitches. Jackie Bradley Jr. broke-up the no-hit bid with a RBI single up the middle and ended Tepera's outing.

Relievers Ronald Uviedo, Michael Dubee, and Trystan Magnuson continued to shutdown the Sea Dogs. Portland would only manage one additional hit, a ninth inning double by Matt Spring.

The Sea Dogs threatened in the eighth inning bringing the go-ahead run to the plate when Dubee walked two and hit a batter to load the bases with two outs for Bryce Brentz. Dubee struck out Brentz to end the threat.

Chris Hernandez (4-8) suffered the loss for Portland surrendering four runs on eight hits in five innings of work.

The Sea Dogs will begin a three game series against the Reading Phillies on Monday night at 7:00 PM. Sea Dogs' lefty Drake Britton (1-2, 3.93) will get the start against Reading righty Austin Hyatt (2-3, 5.98). The game can be heard live on 95.5/ 95.9 FM WPEI.
