
Clark Pitches Baysox to Series Win

Reading, PA - The Bowie Baysox (46-47) managed just four hits on Sunday afternoon, but got two home runs and a strong pitching performance as they beat the Reading Phillies (48-45) 3-1.
The R-Phils struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning. Darin Ruf led off with a double and went to third on a single by Brandon Tripp. Then with one out Cody Asche singled to left to knock in Ruf and make the score 1-0.
Rhyne Hughes answered immediately in the top of the fifth inning when he hit his seventh home run of the season to tie up the game, 1-1.
In the sixth inning, Jonathan Schoop hit a two-out solo home run to give the Baysox a 2-1 lead. It was his 10th home run of the season.
The Baysox added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Brian Ward led off with a walk and went to second on a single by Antoan Richardson. Both runners advanced into scoring position when Schoop laid down a sacrifice bunt. Then with Josh Barfield batting, Colby Shreve threw a wild pitch and Ward scored to make the score 3-1.
Zach Clark picked up his eighth win of the season. He went seven innings and allowed just one runs on six hits with two strikeouts a no walks.
Pat Egan tossed the final two innings without allowing a run to earn his second save of the season.
Jonathan Pettibone got the loss allowing two runs on two solo home runs in six innings of work.
The Baysox will continue their road trip tomorrow in Erie at 7:05 p.m. RHP Tim Bascom (4-5, 4.03) will make the start for the Baysox against RHP Cesar Carrillo (1-1, 4.97).
The Baysox are currently on a seven-game road trip. All of the games can be heard on www.baysox.com . They will return home on Thursday, July 19 for a seven-game homestand that begins with four games against the Binghamton Mets.
